Feeding the DTES
Hot, nutritious meals cooked and served by volunteers to residents of the Downtown Eastside every weekend.
Since 2006, Guru Nanak's Free Kitchen has served hot meals, groceries and dignity to Vancouver's Downtown Eastside and beyond — powered entirely by volunteers living out the Sikh principle of Sarbhat da Bhalla, the well-being of all.
Volunteer-run, community-funded, and focused on dignity — here's how we serve.
Hot, nutritious meals cooked and served by volunteers to residents of the Downtown Eastside every weekend.
Volunteer drivers collect surplus food and redirect it to those who need it most, cutting waste and hunger together.
Free groceries delivered by volunteers to local shelters and food banks nearly every day of the week.
A youth-focused program that builds the next generation of volunteers and community leaders through seva.
Rapid-response meal and supply support for communities affected by disasters across BC.
Ongoing partnerships providing food and supplies to 12 Indigenous communities.
Founded in 2006 by community members connected to Gurudwara Sukh Sagar, GNFK began as a simple effort to serve cooked meals in the Downtown Eastside. Today it's a registered charity guided by the principles of Guru Nanak Dev Ji — work honestly, remember what matters, and share with those in need.
More About UsWork hard and honestly in everything we do.
Stay grounded in gratitude and remembrance.
Share what we have with those in need.

"We sponsored a langar seva in honour of our daughter's birthday. It was a meaningful reminder that celebrations can go beyond ourselves."
"We are grateful for the opportunity to stay connected with the community and continue serving others."
Every donation and every volunteer hour goes straight into meals, groceries and dignity for people in need.
